The Charles E Kubly Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations for projects that are consistent with our mission to raise awareness of depression, reduce the stigma associated with it and help people access resources in their communities. Additionally we have funded projects that address suicide prevention.
We have provided funds to the following organizations in 2009. Also, please see the projects supported in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010
- COPE Services of Ozaukee County (2009) A grant to support the COPE Teen Line and School Outreach program.
- Mental Health America of Wisconsin (2009) Support for the 2010-2011 Mental Health and Wellness Resource Guide for Milwaukee County.
- Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation (2009) Support for an online, downloadable suicide prevention brochure.
- The Morning Blend (2009) Funds for an hour long program devoted to the topic of depression. The show included experts, resource information, personal stories and a phone bank staffed by two local hospitals.
- Wisconsin Family Ties (2009) Support for the 2009 Children Come First Conference held in the WI Dells on November 16th and 17th.
- Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin/Children’s Health Education Center (2009) A grant to support the “It’s Time: Teen Depression” peer to peer, classroom based program.
- InHealth Wisconsin (2009) Support for an in-service on depression for teachers of elementary School aged children.
- Rogers Memorial Hospital (2009) Support for a symposium on depression, suicide, and substance abuse with a focus on impaired professionals.
- Safe Communities (2009) A grant to support the printing and distribution of a brochure on Means Restriction including coordination of a news conference about Means Restriction during Suicide Prevention Week.
- The University of Michigan Depression Center (2009) A grant to provide 5 scholarships for staff of Milwaukee based colleges/universities to attend the Depression on College Campuses conference.
- Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation (2009) Support for their 4th annual Dialogue, specifically the workshop “The Prevention of Depression in the Workplace”.
- World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) (2009) Support for a project entitled “Developing a Global Suicide Prevention Program For Families Caring for People with Serious Mental Illness”. Will include a pilot of the workshop in Milwaukee.
- Dry Hootch (2009) Grant to assist with placing mental health information on their website plus costs associated with a downloadable suicide prevention brochure.
- InHealth Wisconsin (2009) Funding for Transitions, a mental health awareness program for 8th graders in Ozaukee County Schools.
- MHA of Sheboygan (2009) Grant to support a walk to raise awareness of depression.
- Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation Grant to cover costs of reproducing report about the cost of depression in the workplace.
